Housed in a stellar 19th century structure, dozens of produce stalls offering every kind of native fruit and vegetable greet wanderers. Then when it’s time for a rest, shoppers can sample one of the several superb tapas bars, such as Pinotxo.
Barcelona Hop-on Hop-off City Tour

You can hop-on and off as many times as you like at any of the 44 stops. The Northern route and the Southern Route are two hours long, while the Forum route is 40 minutes long. The three tour routes are inter-connected so you can hop easily between each of the stops!

Barcelona cathedral

On first entering the visitor is struck by the amazing wood carvings on every wall. A side chapel holds a cross removed from a galleon that participated in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. The Christ figure on the cross is bending to the right. According to a Spanish legend the motion was to avoid a cannonball fired during the conflict.

Montserrat and Cava trail tour

Leaving Barcelona, you’ll head straight to Montserrat. On arrival, you can visit the Royal Basilica where the famous 12th-century statue of the Black Virgin is housed. At 1pm on weekdays there is the opportunity to hear one of Europe’s oldest children’s choirs, La Escolania de Montserrat. While you’re here, take the opportunity to visit the fascinating Museum of Montserrat, go for a walk in the surrounding parklands or ride the rack railway or cable car up the mountain.

Gothic Quarter in Barcelona

Arrayed around Placa de Sant Jaume Square are some of the most fascinating examples of medieval architecture in Europe. Just down the street is the Town Hall (l’Ajuntament), built in the 15th century. Next to it is the Parlament de Catalunya where the Catalan parliament holds its sessions. Facing it is the magnificent Palau de la Generalitat. Down Madoz, walkers can find the Palau Reial where a flea market is held on Sunday.

Arc de Triomf, Barcelona

Located between Passeig de Lluís Companys and Passeig de Sant Joan, the Arc de Triomf is easy to find. Many popular hotels are located within a kilometer of the entrance to Ciutadella Park where the arch is located. It can be seen easily at the end of the wide promenade running in front of them.

Barcelona Zoo

There are programs that stock and protect the Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum). This large lizard is a favorite of kids and adults alike. The Pygmy Hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis) is another unusual animal that visitors won’t see even at many larger facilities. The zoo also hosts a number of Black Vultures, a Mhorr’s Gazelle and Rothschild’s Giraffes. In addition to these well-known names, Barcelona zoo is home to species that are rarely seen elsewhere, such as the Greater Kudu, Siamangs (an arboreal gibbon) and several Mangabeys (a type of Old World monkey).
Parc Guell in Barcelona

Parc Guell in northern part of Barcelona was planned and built in the beginning of the 20th century by architect Antonio Gaudi. Inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage Site List. The terraced gardens provide an excellent combination of the natural and artificial.

As Gaudi intended, every part of the basilica’s design is rich with Christian symbolism. He wanted the church to be “the last great sanctuary of Christendom”. In all, there will be 18 of the striking towers, representing in ascending order of height, the 12 Apostles, the four Evangelists, the Virgin Mary, and tallest of all – Jesus Christ.
