The Centre of Contemporary Art was created to bring to the public conatemporary art of the 20th and 21st Century and a to be space where multiple events and activities are organised. The centre has become one of the reference points in Europe for contemporary art and one of the most important in Spain.
The CAC Málaga holds exhibitions and events of a pioneering nature, raising the profile of artists who perhaps haven´t exhibited work in Spain before, as well as organising workshops and courses to bring contemporary art to the general public. The exhibition area of the CAC is divided into five zones, four hold temporary exhibitions while the fifth houses the permanent collection.
The Centre of Contemporary Art offers visitors temporary exhibitions by some of the most renowned contemporary artists in the world today, as well as an important permanent exhibition made up of its own collection and pieces donated by institutions and individuals. As a whole the works act as a tour of the disciplines and artistic trends of the 20th and 21st Century, or in other words the last fifty years. As such, you can find woks representing the diverse currents of modern art; informalism, pop art, conceptual art, minimalism and abstract expressionism, among others.
The collection can be divided into two groups: international contemporary art and spanish contemporary art.
