The Benalmádena Cable Railway offers a spectacular fifteen-minute ride in comfortable, modern cabins, each one with capacity for four people. The cable railway covers a route that connects Benalmádena Costa with the peak of Monte Calamorro, one of the highest points of the Costa del Sol, at almost 800 metres above sea level, where visitors can enjoy the exclusive landscape together with a complete selection of activities for people of all ages.

Shows at the summit
The cable railway’s appealing leisure offer was expanded in 2003 with the incorporation at the summit of the Calamorro of exhibits of Birds of Prey, with falcons, eagles, owls, vultures, etc flying around in liberty in an incredibly beautiful natural setting, against the stunning background of the skies of Málaga and the Mediterranean.
The backdrop of your view is dominated by the Málaga skyline and the Mediterranean Sea. Horses are also included in this new leisure offer. Visitors that travel to the summit can enjoy an equestrian show performed by purebred Spanish horses.
The offer of the Benalmádena Cable Railway includes the possibility of taking a donkey ride on these docile animal breeds from Cordoba, Zamora-Leon and Catalonia. The donkeys take visitors on a relaxing ride along a route in which the open air, the sun and nature are the protagonists. On the backs of these animals, visitors will discover the best views of the Costa del Sol, including Sierra Nevada and on clear days Gibraltar and the African Coast.
With this unique donkey ride route, inaugurated at Easter in 2002, the Benalmádena cable railway has contributed to the survival of a very endangered species. In the last 40 years, in view of the mechanisation of agriculture and rural exodus, more than 1,100,000 donkeys have disappeared. At present there are only 65,000 donkeys in Spain, many of which are unable to procreate.
Information of interest: Monte Calamorro measures 769 metres, equivalent to two and half times the height of New York’s Empire State Building and twice as high as the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
